The story of the Chaudhari Samaj—also known as the Aanjana—is one that weaves together mythology, heritage, and devotion to the land of India. While exact historical records are limited, our roots are traced through ancient scriptures, oral traditions, the poetic tales of Bhaat-Chaarans, and references such as the caste compendium by Shri Devendra Patel.
According to sacred lore from the Mahabharata, the mighty sage Parshuram, revered as both a Brahmin and warrior-saint, sought to eliminate the Kshatriyas from the Earth. He succeeded 21 times. However, eight sons of the Kshatriya king Sahastraarjun survived his final battle and fled, seeking refuge behind the sacred temple of Maa Arbuda at Mount Abu.
As Parshuram pursued them with his divine weapon (Farsi), the eight young princes prayed to Maa Arbuda for protection. The goddess answered their call. She intervened and persuaded Parshuram to spare their lives, assuring him that these boys—unfamiliar with war and foreign to the land—would never rise in battle. Instead, she blessed them to become Dhartiputra—sons of the soil.
In gratitude, the eight survivors asked Maa Arbuda how they should live their lives. She instructed them to embrace a life rooted in farming, simplicity, and service to the land. She blessed them, saying:
"You will never go hungry. You will flourish with grain, milk, and prosperity. You shall be known as Aanjana."
Thus began the journey of the Aanjana people, who settled across the regions of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Bengal, Rajasthan, Gorakhpur, and Gujarat, dedicating themselves to agriculture and poultry—true stewards of the earth.
Today, the Aanjana community thrives across nine Indian states, united under the banner of the Akhil Aanjana Mandal, with its spiritual heart in Mount Abu and a development center in Delwada near Dera. Though scattered by geography, the community remains deeply connected by its divine origin, cultural values, and shared commitment to growth and harmony.
